Fernandina is the youngest island in the Galapagos archipelago, and furthermore, one of the most beautiful and pristine islands in the planet. This morning we visited Punta Espinoza, a magical place full of life. Here we encountered thousands of marine iguanas warming up in the lava fields, before heading to the ocean for an algae breakfast. We also spotted flightless cormorants, Galapagos hawk, sea turtles, and sea lions. After this beautiful walk, our guests where ready to snorkel in ¨turtle avenue¨, where we spotted lots of Pacific green sea turtles and marine iguana feeding.
In the afternoon we visited Punta Vicente Roca, where we saw more sea turtles, flightless cormorants, Galapagos penguins and blue-footed boobies while Zodiac cruising along the shore. Back aboard, we enjoyed wine tasting and the ¨Ecuadorian Line-Crossing Ceremony¨ while enjoying the sunset and watching for the elusive “green flash¨. This was another wonderful day in paradise aboard the National Geographic Endeavour II.
