Today we visited Floreana Island in the southern region of the Galapagos archipelago. We started our day with an early morning walk on Punta Cormorant. This was an amazing visit, as we were able to see Galapagos penguins swimming at the sea, and Galapagos flamingos feeding on the brackish lagoon of Floreana. Nowhere else in the world we can have this experience: penguins and flamingos in the same place! After such an exciting pre-breakfast walk, we came back onboard for breakfast.
Later on, we explored Champion islet, where we saw baby sea lions and a great number of marine birds. After this, some of our experienced snorkelers swam along the cliffs of Champion, while at the same time, other groups took the option of a glass bottom boat to explore the underwater world of the island. After lunch, a number of options where available to visit the Post Office bay, an historical site that used to be visited by whaling ships back in the early 1800s. As we are finishing this day, I am so grateful for having the privilege of witnessing so much beauty every day.
