Floreana Island used to be one of the most visited places in the Galápagos Archipelago by whalers, pirates and buccaneers. After traveling for several years in these waters, they found Floreana which served as good shelter and a good supply of water and food.
Cormorant Point, Champion Islet and Post Office bay were the national park sites we visited today. In order to fully experience the different ecosystems which exist at these sites, we took part in nature walks, Zodiac rides, kayaking and deep water snorkeling.
The weather conditions were ideal for the various activities. The visibility in the water was unbelievable! Our guests could see so many new species such as greater flamingos, white cheeked pintail ducks, red billed tropic birds, shearwaters, lots of new colorful fish, sea lions and a school of spotted eagle rays. Our guests certainly have new memories they will never forget.
Our day came to an end atop the highest deck of the National Geographic Islander with a wonderful sunset and a cocktail. We toasted to a wonderful day and look forward to seeing the giant tortoises tomorrow in Santa Cruz.
