Early in the morning, National Geographic Endeavour II arrived at Floreana Island, located in the south part of the archipelago. Its natural and human histories make this island amazing. It was the first island to be colonized by the Germans in the early 1900s.
In the morning, we started our activities at Punta Cormorant. We took a relaxed walk near a brackish water lagoon, where we found Galapagos flamingos. This beautiful area is surrounded by dry vegetation. The trail led us to a wonderful white sand beach, where we observed green sea turtles and their nests.
After our hike, we enjoyed water activities around Champion Islet. Guests chose between snorkeling or a ride in the glass-bottom boat.
After a great morning, we enjoyed lunch and some time for relaxing before we started the afternoon’s activities at Post Office Bay. We took a Zodiac ride to look for seabirds, especially blue-footed boobies and the one and only Galapagos penguin. The penguins are hard to find in this area, but we did it! To end this great visit, guests chose to kayak or paddleboard along the coast of beautiful Floreana.
