National Geographic Endeavour II guests started the day early with a lovely pre-breakfast walk on Punta Cormorant, where we found flamingos and blue-footed boobies feeding on the shore alongside impressive volcanic landscapes. As we crossed a peninsula to a coralline white sand beach, we saw hundreds of marine turtle nests. This beach is one of the islands’ most important nesting sites for green sea turtles.
Located in the south-central area of the Galapagos archipelago, Floreana is one of the most beautiful and interesting islands in the Galapagos. It was the second island visited by Charles Darwin during his famous voyage of the Beagle.
After a delicious breakfast, we relocated the ship to the next destination, Champion Islet. We went for a Zodiac ride and enjoyed water activities, including snorkeling and tours in the glass-bottom boat. We had the chance to enjoy the beauty of the sea with lots of wildlife. We found sea lions, tintoreras, Galapagos sharks, and many colorful fish.
After a delicious Mexican lunch with margaritas, we navigated towards Post Office Bay in the afternoon. We enjoyed fantastic kayaking and paddleboarding along the coast. A group of sea lions played with us, and we found Pacific green sea turtles looking for seaweed in the bay.
Today we visited an island like no other! It was the first island populated, and it is rich in human history. We had another amazing day in this paradise!
