We woke up this first day of 2018 anchored at Punta Cormorant in the northern side of Floreana Island and went for a short expedition before breakfast. The trail was easy and allowed us to see a Flamingoes Lagoon and a white sandy beach where there was evidence of turtles nesting.
After breakfast, we went in a zodiac to look for the elusive Charles mockingbird, which is extinct in the main island.
In the afternoon, we visited Post Office Bay where we left our postcards without postage as tradition prescribes. We also kayaked; paddle boarded and snorkeled from the beach. It was a great day to start the year in our natural laboratory of evolution.
