We had an exceptional day on Floreana Island. Our morning started with a fiery sunrise behind Devil’s Crown, which gave us motivation for our pre-breakfast activity. Landing on one of only four green sand beaches in the world, we spotted flamingos and blue-footed boobies. The colorful contrast in flora and fauna was astonishing.
Later, Champion Islet provided an ideal opportunity for guests to explore the underwater world of Galapagos. It was a wonderful outing as sea lions accompanied our snorkelers, who interacted with many colorful fishes. Meanwhile, the glass-bottom boat allowed other guests to spot the underwater creatures without getting wet.
After a delicious Mexican-style lunch, we spent the afternoon kayaking or paddle-boarding along the coast of Floreana. Then it was time to take part in a fun tradition with a visit to the Post Office Barrel, an informal postal system used in the buccaneer days. Guests dropped postcards in the barrel and retrieved other postcards, which they promise to hand deliver if they can. Good luck to them!
