It was another beautiful day, with the sun shining and another new location to explore. With National Geographic Explorer anchored in the sheltered river opposite the picturesque Cornish town of Fowey, many of us went separate ways during the morning on the different activities on offer.

For some, it was a wonderful trip to the historic house and estate at Pencarrow, with all its charm and unique countryside quirks. For others, it was the special experience of visiting the Colwith Farm Distillery which has turned its hand to distilling delicious vodkas and gins with the potatoes it grows for crisp and pasty production. For those not on an ‘out-of-town’ tour, it was a leisurely walk around Fowey with some brilliant interpretation from our local guides.

After waving goodbye to the beautiful Fowey, it was time to hit the open sea again on our way to Portsmouth. We enjoyed two brilliant presentations in the afternoon from Ayla, our undersea specialist, and Sisse, our National Geographic photographer, before it was time for our final recap. This included a wonderful photographic slideshow of our journey and a farewell speech from Captain Yuri.

After another fantastic dinner, we were treated to one final memorable musical performance – a local Cornish duo, Didjan.
