During breakfast we anchored off the island of Delos. If Delphi is the site to visit on the mainland of Greece, maybe Delos is the island to visit!! The island was first inhabited in about 3000 BC, and is the birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis. It was the Ionian colonizers in about 1000 BC who introduced the worship of Apollo.

With Zodiacs on crystal clear water we were brought ashore. Our Greek guides took us around and gave us a chance to understand the different buildings that have been excavated and later reconstructed. But of course, the lions (see the photo) are likely the masterpieces. Remember that at the time they were erected, lions were still common on the mainland!

Just before lunch, we embarked Caledonian Starto continue our odyssey through the Greek islands.

During the afternoon we were able to enjoy the Aegean Sea at its best, complete with a nice breeze. Some of us used the pool. Later on, Lolita Georgiou-Lemoni gave us an interesting lecture on Cycladic art.

At about 5 o'clock the Caledonian Star arrived off the island of Folegandros and dropped the anchor. Once again, we used our Zodiacs to go ashore and in the late afternoon and before dinner we strolled around this stunning island. For anyone coming to rarely visited Folegandros, just to walk around and look at the architecture is pure pleasure. The island houses about 3,000 inhabitants and the village is situated on the slopes of the mountain. From the village you have a panoramic view over the island and the sea. Something you could not soon forget. At dinnertime we set sail for our last call in Greece, Santorini.
