Zapote River & Supay Caño
This visitor site is so immense that we could spend the whole day exploring and looking for wildlife, which is why we planned our morning activities a bit differently than previous days. First we went out before breakfast with the early risers and a group of adventurous kayakers, the idea was to look for wildlife at early hours when most animals start to go out looking for food. The group of kayakers experienced the same sightings by moving at their own rhythm.
After almost one week some of our guests were very happy to be able to recognize some species by themselves. Some features are very important in order to identify the name of these creatures. We learned from our naturalists that the most important feature for them to identify species is the sound, habitat, and the way each one of them flies. We were glad to have learned some of these techniques after all.
During our second outing we went out one more time to the same river, but this time we went deeper inside the rain forest looking for new experiences. This time we had our big reward because we spotted three kinds of monkeys at the same time and in a single tree.
So far this week we have been very lucky seeing monkeys, because in every single outing we have seen them. On our way back to the ship we stopped in a little village for a few minutes, the whole area is covered with water this time of the year, and it was amazing to see little kids paddling their own wooden canoes.
In the afternoon we were in a different location known as Supay Caño, even though it was our very last afternoon activity, everyone was out because we had an amazing week and everyone wanted to say goodbye to all the animals in this beautiful paradise.
We finished our day one more time with a lot of good sightings and memories and a group of very friendly monkeys and pink river dolphins. This is a very complicated and beautiful ecosystem that deserves to be named a natural wonder of our planet.
