This morning we visited the beautiful and peaceful Hebridean Isle of Canna. Some of us went ashore for a walk around the little bay and across a small bridge to the Isle of Sanday. Others took our kayaks for a tour around the bay under the imposing cliffs created by the Tertiary volcanic lavas that comprise the islands. These basaltic volcanic rocks display the lovely columnar jointing which we had seen a few days earlier on the Isle of Staffa. Eider ducks with their fluffy ducklings paddled around the shore and grey seals poked the heads above the surface to inspect us as we kayaked by. Oystercatchers flew noisily about and along the cliff faces we could see golden eagles soaring. This was the last day of this voyage and Canna provided a perfect finale.
