Bartolome & Santiago Islands

We started our first full day in the Galápagos with an optional early morning wake up call. Troopers dry landed on the island of Bartolomé to climb up the summit of the eroded top of this spectacular volcano. Three hundred and seventy-three wooden steps took us up to a spectacular view of Pinnacle Rock and the surrounding islands. We even had a whale sighting and a couple of hawks were flying above our heads! After all this early morning excitement, we headed back down hill to have a well deserved and satisfying breakfast.

The second morning outing was to go snorkelling at a nearby beach. We had a great time with colorful fishes, reef sharks, and marbled sting rays with lots of sea stars in the surroundings.

The afternoon stroll took place on the coastline of Puerto Egas. Lots and lots of marine iguanas, the Galápagos fur sea lion, oystercatchers, whimbrels, sea turtles in the grottos and many other natural attractions were the highlights of the visit at Puerto Egas. A delicious Ecuadorian ceviche was waiting for us at the sun deck of the Islander to watch the sunset.
