Isle of Skye
Another glorious sunny day! In less than an hour we sail from Inverie to Armadale on the Isle of Skye. Our first visit is to the Museum of the Isles at Armadale. The museum buffs go straight there with Steve, the birders walk with Cindy around the gardens to finish off at the museum and the garden lovers walk with Konia along the lovely herbaceous borders and amongst the mature trees to the museum. After reading up on the Lord of the Isles and Highland and Island history we head back to the Lord of the Glens for lunch.
In the afternoon those in need of some serious exercise go for a 5 mile hike in the Cuillins. The views of the Black and Red Cuillins are stunning as are the various streams and rivers along the route. History and plant lovers went on to Dunvegan Castle and Gardens. This castle claims to be the longest continuously inhabited in Scotland, the oldest part dating back to the 13th century.
Later on both parties rendezvoused at the Sligachan Inn for a dram or a pint. Thus fortified we travelled back to the ship which immediately set sail for the Isle of Eigg.
Dinner was enjoyed on the flat water, followed by a talk on the history of the Isle of Eigg by Steve.
Another memorable day comes to an end, for some of us upstairs in the lounge, for others in their beds with a good book and for some of us even in the local pub on Eigg!
