Cerro Dragon & Sombrero Chino

With a partially overcast morning we had another six o’clock wake up call to learn about the unknown. This time, it is the northwestern shore of Santa Cruz Island. We met a lot of prickly pear cactus and their main predators: land iguanas.

The hike started on the shore, where we found several great blue herons and striated herons fishing. Marine iguanas and a flock of flamingos added to the picture. Finally, the fresh and steaming droppings of the mighty land iguana led out steps (carefully) to finding the great herbivores. It was outstanding. Later we went to see sharks and other amenities on Guy Faulkes Island.

In the afternoon our visit to Sombrero Chino was incredible. We did everything; kayaking, snorkeling, beach time, and Zodiac riding, it was amazing. In our snorkeling, more than a dozen penguins were spotted, many of them in the process of eating. Rays and tropical fish were on the scene as well.

What a great day in paradise…
