Floreana Island
There is so much to discover in this planet of ours, so much to absorb, to understand and also to feel –even thought we might not yet understand it. Every step in Galápagos is a learning experience, an opportunity to get in touch with life on earth and with our own inner world of ideas and feelings.
We walk these trails in the company of Naturalists; we see through their eyes, so we learn about the different creatures’ interactions. But listening is not enough. Galápagos invites us to consider the theories of these islands and their wildlife. The enchanted archipelago encourages scientific thinking; we wonder about the origin of things, just as Charles Darwin did more than a hundred and seventy years ago at these same sites.
Having younger explorers on board ignites, even more, our enthusiasm for discovery, and all together – kids, grandparents, parents, Naturalists, and people from all over – we explore the islands and surrounding waters in search of beauty, answers, and of course the marvelous nature.
And so we visited Floreana today and its historical barrel used by whalers more than two hundred years ago as an ad hoc post office. We walked at Punta Cormorant to find plants unique to this island and the whole world; we spotted flamingoes, snorkeled with sea lions, kayaked along tuff cliffs and felt more alive and brighter than ever!
