Isabela & Fernandina Islands
We woke up early this morning sailing in front of the majestic Ecuador Volcano. On our way to Punta Vicente Roca, a large school of playful short-beaked common dolphins surprised us with their company for a few minutes.
Soon was time to enjoy the amazing paradise that Vicente Roca was going to show us; at the beginning of the Zodiac ride, a small group of mola molas appeared amazingly, as if they were waiting for us. Further along the spectacular cliffs several fur sea lions were standing on the rocks, as the masters of the place. When we arrived at the bay, it was time to enjoy the amazing sea turtles that were everywhere and the cherry-on- top was definitely the Galápagos penguins that looked so cute standing on the rocks nicely covered with algae.
As soon as we arrived back on board there was no time to waste in order to get ready for our next adventure: the charming deep-water snorkeling. Once in the water, all the colorful reef fish made us enjoy the fantastic natural aquarium of the Galápagos Islands, but this time with an additional attraction: the curious flightless cormorant. Our morning activities were completed by the chef’s special buffet lunch of traditional Ecuadorian cuisine
In the afternoon the Galápagos paradise just had more nature to show. On our way to Fernandina Island, a Bryde’s whale with its calf was swimming by the ship. Once on the island, the landscape was spectacular. The lava flows where the trail is located looked so fresh that it seems like it was yesterday that La Cumbre Volcano erupted: they still look like melted chocolate! The majestic marine iguanas were moving everywhere on the trail as old reptiles of the ancient world. As we walked a few meters farther on the trail, the charming flightless cormorants were nesting right there like a well-organized family of modern times. At the end of the visit, a shy Gálapagos snake appeared in the middle of the guests like a surprise that comes out from a box.
All I can say is that today we had another wonderful day in the magical paradise of the Galápagos Islands.
