Dragon Hill & Eden Island

After a comfortable navigation we arrived at one the most fantastic places in the Galápagos Islands: Dragon Hill. The first adventure of the day was a hike into the remarkable incense tree forest to look for the marvelous land iguanas. As we arrived, the splendor of the plants stunned us from the very beginning. The color combination of the vegetation, ground, and sea played the perfect symphony of nature. Farther along the trail, we were surprised by the amount of land birds that were singing and flying all over the place. Once we reached the summit of Dragon Hill, the view was spectacular. And on the way back, we finally witnessed the dragons of the Galápagos Islands: land iguanas.

After our magnificent hike to Dragon Hill, it was time to come back on board the National Geographic Endeavour in order to continue with the next adventure of the day: deep-water snorkeling. As we reached Guy Fawkes Islet, it was time to begin the underwater adventure. Seeing the mixture of colors underwater was a spectacular moment that made us feel as if we were inside a complete paradise. Farther up, we saw one of the most awe-inspiring creatures of the seas: a white-tipped reef shark. As we arrived back on board, we pulled anchored and started heading to our next destination: Eden Island.

In the afternoon, the adventure just got better. The perfect way to begin the exploration was with a zodiac ride along the coast of Eden Island. During the visit, we enjoyed all the wonders that nature had prepared for us: inside the mangrove forest, striated herons were fishing, brown pelicans were resting, and frigatebirds were flying all over us like an evening sonata. At the end of the adventure we had a remarkable sail around Daphne Islet to enjoy the concerto of the sea birds that were singing their melodies. Today we couldn’t have had a better adventure in the Galápagos Islands’ paradise.
