Genovesa Island
We landed this morning to visit Darwin’s Bay, and a whole array of different species of nesting marine birds were waiting to welcome us.
We saw red-footed boobies nesting and with young hatchlings, as well as frigatebirds, swallow-tailed gulls, Nazca boobies, yellow-crowned night herons, mockingbirds, sea lions, fiddler crabs, hermit crabs, Sally Lightfoot crabs and a lot more on our first outing of the morning.
While some of us were taking this great walk, other groups went up to the higher rocks to enjoy the same kind of sightings.
Once everybody was back on board, we left for the second outing of the morning, snorkeling along the steep cliffs of Genovesa, hoping to see a hammerhead shark or two.
Also kayakers had a good time exploring the rocky shores of Darwin’s Bay.
In the afternoon we also saw storm petrels and the short-eared owl.
What else to ask for?!
