Krossfyorden, Svalbard Norway

A vertical rock tableau brushed red with xanthophylls fringed with chloro-green. Old beyond human time the hard rock canvas tells the story of life's ambitious hold in this unforgiving glacial world.

From the bowels of feathered foragers high on narrow precipice azotic nutrients feed the fire lichens nourishing our human eyes hungry for colour in this vast land of black and white.

Below, rich green beds of mosses and sedges, feeding a single grazing caribou, distant descendant of the ungulate hordes of southern mainland deer living in a richer world.

Near the sea, where all life dwells, the Puffins and Murres, nutrient vectors of the land bound life before us.

We see, we think we understand, and in our perception of what we call art, we might belong.
