Port Lockroy and Danco Island

Sir Ernest Shackleton said, “I seemed to vow to myself that some day I would go to the region of ice and snow and go on and on till I came to one of the poles of the earth, the end of the axis upon which this great round ball turns.”

Today was our last day in the great white south. We had spectacular weather, a chance to have our last looks at penguins, seals and just soak in all the beauty of this unique part of the planet. It is definitely worth the journey to come to this end of the earth’s axis, marvel at the wildlife and make new friends along the way.
