Española Island

The jewel of the crown was reserved for our last day in the enchanted islands. Española Island has one of the most spectacular sites to visit in this magical archipelago.
The morning highlights were snorkeling around Gardner Islet, kayaking and a fabulous time on the beach with the sea lions and curious Española mocking birds.

Punta Suarez in the afternoon offered quite an energetic walk on lava boulders. The tide was high, so we had a spectacular view of the blowhole, not to mention the magnificence of the sourrounding Pacific Ocean.

Great close ups with beautiful nazca and blue-footed boobies, gulls, finches, mocking birds, large lava lizards, and lots of sea lions were the attraction this afternoon.

The grande finale offered the graceful and amazing Galápagos waved albatross. Many of the adults rested at the edge of the trail. Most of them were incubating their egg; in a couple of weeks we will have the delight to observe the new hatchlings. They will grow week after week in front of our eyes. We really feel rewarded as we have come to this bird sanctuary week after week and witnessed the magic of nature.

Española Island is definitely the best way to finish our dream expedition in the Galápagos Islands.
