Española Island

We started our last full day on the Enchanted Islands with a pre breakfast kayak expedition led by Gaby Bohorquez, one of our naturalists. After breakfast we had many activities to choose from. Two groups took the option to go snorkeling for the very last time. Swimming with three Galápagos sea lions was one of the highlights of this outing. The playful marine mammals after displaying their wonderful diving skills for us, started to play with two large stingrays by pulling them from their tail. A second option was to visit Gardner bay beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of the archipelago. Just to walk around this beach is an unforgettable experience for its sand is so fine and white that it resembles cooking flour. Trusting Hood mockingbirds that were tirelessly exploring our bags together with wonderful Galápagos sea lions all over made a perfect picture.

We spent the afternoon on one of the most interesting points of the island, Punta Suarez. Wildlife around this place is exuberant. Just after landing we observed many Galápagos sea lions and colorful marine iguanas. Inquisitive Hood mockingbirds were picking our shoe laces while we were admiring all of the abundant fauna of Punta Suarez. Later on we were able to walk among nesting blue-footed and Nazca boobies. At one point we were fortunate to be extremely close to some Waved albatross chicks and adults. I am sure that all of our visitors this week are ready to go back to their homes, with the Galápagos Islands in their hearts forever!
