Bartolomé
One of the islands with the ability to transport you back to the geological origin of the Galápagos is Bartolomé. We decided to disembark early in the morning and by 6:30 a.m. we are all on the island. The rocks at the disembarkation area were slippery, but not enough to stop us!
We have a great opportunity to immerse ourselves in the geology of the islands. Soon after we walk the first part of the path in Bartolomé we have a great opportunity to see the indigenous plants from all over the island. The view is incredible, ahhh!
After we take in the view and landscape, we are back on the ship for breakfast and snorkeling instructions. The water is cooler than we expected, but there are penguins, rays and fish everywhere. What a nice time we have had here on this little island!
Rabida
We go kayaking and snorkeling to begin our afternoon activities. The conditions are superb for aquatic exploration. The fish, sea lions and calm water made it suitable for us and we feel deeply satisfied. We go back to the boat to get ready for what the red island is holding for our explorers.
We have a wet landing on the red beach of Rabida and we see mockingbirds, hawks and the island’s dry vegetation. The landscapes and water lagoon are truly inspiring to the natural history staff. In the end, the best of the surprises are the two pink flamingos that arrive to island rather late, but not too late for our group of enthusiastic explorers to see them.
The long day is over tomorrow is going to be even better.
