Bartolomé & Santiago Islands

We had sunny beautiful weather, all day long. In the morning the light shone over the pinnacle, an interesting volcanic feature, one of the icons of the Galápagos Islands, a bright yellowish tuff cone, impressive above water and underwater as well. We explored the area both ways, first with a walk to the top of the island and then snorkeling around and observing through the glass bottom boat.

The afternoon found us at our adopted island, walking along the shoreline where we had the company of friends we met and learned about along this week, creatures such as: sea lions, fur sea lions, marine iguanas, mockingbirds and finches. This is the island where goats and wild pigs have been completely eradicated, this is the island where Darwin spent most of his time when he was in the Galápagos, and it is an island precious to our hearts.
