Bartolomé & Santiago Islands

Our last day in the Galápagos Islands couldn’t be better… We started early in the morning with a visit to one of the famous sceneries in the Islands, Bartolomé. More than 300 steps to arrive to the summit of this volcano, the view was outstanding; from there we could see all the islands we had visited on the eastern side of the archipelago and in front of us the spectacular Pinnacle Rock. We came back for a well deserved breakfast. Just on time to be ready for our next visit, the golden beach and the dunes of Bartolomé. Just arriving we were so lucky to see from our pangas some penguins in their courtship and even penguins mating! After our wet landing we walked to the other side of the island where we could find some shore birds as American oystercatchers and lava herons looking for crabs. We continued with one of the best snorkelling sessions: sharks, penguins and all kinds of fish were around us.

After navigation around Santiago Island we arrived to Puerto Egas where we went to the beach: snorkelling, walking or just soaking up the view. Once again penguins were there! Our last walk was all along the shore to look for fur seals. We found them, and with them marine iguanas, Galápagos sea lions, yellow warblers, mockingbirds, finches, lava lizards… the perfect way of remembering all we have been seeing during our eight days in paradise.
