Lower Monumental Dam and Palouse River

The sunrise started our day as remnants of the full moon fell below the horizon. Stretch class was underway and the avid photographers of National Geographic Sea Bird were on deck painting with light in captured image form. The glorious morning began on the Snake River with cruising to the Lower Monumental Dam, where a lucky group passed the enormous lock as passengers in Zodiacs! After the excitement calmed down, some found treasures and keepsakes of the trip in our global marketplace on board. With the sunshine warming up the day, we all returned to the aft 100 level deck for a fabulous lunch hosted by our hotel staff.

The afternoon activities were packed full of exploration for all! Some went on Zodiac cruises; others visited the spectacular Palouse River Falls. Then still, many people piled into kayaks and paddled around the serene section of the Palouse River we called our own, for the mini eternity we inhabited there. The evening cocktail hour brought us back to the lovely setting of the aft 100 level deck just before the daily Recap of events. The highlight of our gathering was the video chronicle preview of the week’s occurrences, where moments were captured in time with art and grace!
