Coiba Marine National Park
We arrived this morning in the beautiful waters of Coiba Marine National Park. Surround by islands, thick in green vegetation and white sandy beaches, it was the perfect setting for our final stop in Panama.
Our day started off at Granito de Oro, a tiny sandy island where we enjoyed some spectacular snorkeling over pristine coral reef. We had great views of king angle fish, puffer fish, box fish, lobsters, blue jacks, white tip reef sharks and turtles! The morning did not end, the enthusiasm was high and the seas were right, so some guests decided to take the kayaks and enjoy a 3 mile journey from Granito to the main Island of Coiba. Everyone enjoyed these waters rich in sea life. Back on the Island of Coiba, our wonderful Galley Staff had a great barbeque waiting, just the right choice in the beautiful setting. The afternoon was spent walking around the premises taking pictures, a passion a lot of our guests enjoy.
Coiba Marine National Park is Panama’s latest crown jewel for science and conservation. Joining for the first time in a unique four country marine corridor with Costa Rica, Colombia, and Ecuador, this partnership’s objective is to increase the area of marine and terrestrial protection for science and future generations to visit. Together these four countries will hold the largest corridor of conservation in the tropical American Pacific Coast.
