Milos
This morning we woke up on the volcanic island of Milos. Eager to discover its hidden secrets, we drove NE to Pollonia. There we ran into a convoy of cars ferrying to Kimolos. The Sunday church service had just finished and we visited the Church of Agia Paraskevi, meeting the priest and his wife.
On the way to the capital of Plaka, we stopped at the two remarkable coves Sarakiniko and Papafrongas. The shoreline is the result of the sea and the wind sculpting away the ash on the coast.
Below Plaka we stopped at Tripiti to view where Aphrodite de Milo was found. We hoped one of us would find the missing arms but we had no luck! It was too hot to have a performance in the ancient theater, so we ended our exploration in the town of Plaka overlooking the magnificent natural harbor of Milos. The ice-cream was great and the winding streets leading to the church were fabulous.
