Genovesa

It was a very windy morning and a real surprise to touch quite warm water as we dry-landed (disembarked) for our morning visit to Darwin Bay. Our walking took us to nesting sites of red-footed boobies and swallow-tailed gulls, which they all looked like they were waiting for our visit. After some exchanges of smiles and pictures, our guests got some information from the Naturalist Staff on the natural history of this place. Applause followed (boobies included). Snorkeling with hammerhead sharks was up to the expectations (of the sharks) as many of us chose to go. On their side, sharks were too deep to be actually seen, but it was great anyway.

In the afternoon, as we moved towards our night’s anchoring site, bottle-nosed dolphins showed up with many a cheerful face. One of them did several turns about itself, and Rafael, our Naturalist-with-the-camera, did the same out of excitement, and managed to take this picture.
