Isabela & Fernandina Island
A wonderful day on the western part of the archipelago starts early in the morning, an optional wake-up call for those early risers to be rewarded for an outstanding site, while our officers circumnavigate around Roca Redonda. Thousands of seabirds, swarm this volcano’s naked plug, the congregation of currents which bring nutrients makes Roca Redonda a preferable place for cetaceans; today we were greeted by bottle nose dolphins; our guests were able to enjoy them very close as they rode the bow wave of the ship.
Continuing from the north and crossing the equator we found ourselves surrounded by large volcanoes, a total different landscape from which we were used to; is like we are traveling in time back where it all began.
Soon after we anchored, our staff deployed our pangas for an unforgettable ride along Isabela’s seashore; penguins, cormorants, marine iguanas, turtles, seabirds of different kinds, were embellishing this dazzling scenery. Back onboard, we gather for our water activities, snorkeling with many fish, turtles, and penguins, but just when we thought this was the climax of the day, a gift from the oceans came to be: an Orca whale. All of us were mesmerized for the might of this exceptional hunter, its gracefulness and its power brings a mystic glimpse to our hearts. What a great morning it has been.
