The Galapagos hawk is the primary raptor bird of the Galapagos Islands. In Galapagos you can get very close to them, as you can with many of the other animals here. I don't know of any other place in the world where you can get so close to hawks!

At this time of the year they are found along the coastlines of the islands, especially at James Bay. That's because this is the season when sea lions give birth, and the hawks try to feed on the sea lions' placentas. It's a great opportunity for us to admire their majesty.
