Espanola, Punta Suárez - Once again I´m on one of my favorite islands. Today we had an outstanding visit since we saw boobies courting, sea lions playing, finches singing, colorful male marine iguanas and even a snake! The morning started a bit hazy but as time passed, the sun accompanied us through our trails. Because it was getting a bit warmer, we began seeing that the lava lizards were very active and it was not surprising to find them in battles. Of course this is the time that the males not only fight for territory but also for females. They use their long strong tails as weapons as they hit each other with them. The lava lizard on Española (Microlophus delanonis) is endemic to the island, and is the largest and most colorful one.
