This is a place where you can see a hawk (Buteo galapagoensis) so close that you can read its plate number!

This hawk was one of the few that still carry tags put by the Charles Darwin Research Station a long time ago with the intention of learning more about the hawks' behavior patterns. Number 83 was in front of all of us this morning in Espanola Island. With the little help of our guests we managed to read the tag and report the sighting. Good for us!

The hawk was curious about the hundred nesting sites of marine iguanas that we had in front of us.
