Bartolome Island

Our glass bottom boat gives us a wonderful alternative for showing our visitors the fascinating underwater world of the Galapagos Islands. In addition to our snorkeling programs, the experience the glass bottom boat offers is very attractive, due largely to the fact that you don't have to get wet! The Polaris' glass bottom boat is covered, very relaxed and safe. It easily accommodates twelve people at a time and permits us to explore the marine life around three different islands in our weekly voyage.

Among the large array of marine creatures that are commonly spotted from the glass bottom boat, colorful tropical fish are the most beloved by our visitors. Due to their peculiar shapes and surreal coloration, king angelfish, parrotfish, pufferfish, rainbow wrasse, surgeonfish, among dozens of other fish species, always keep us enthralled. Close to the fish are invertebrates like sea stars and sea urchins. Chocolate chip sea stars and slate pencil sea urchins are the favorites of all. Nevertheless, something that is really a thrill is the unique experience of seeing occasional sea lions performing underwater ballets under the glass. Some of them are so playful and curious that they literally block our vision from time to time, trying to see us through the glass. Sea lions cheerfully blow bubbles at the glass trying to call our attention and being the delight of their observers. Rays, pacific green turtles, and even sharks are also often spotted. All the creatures previously named share one of the most wonderful underwater settings in the world, volcanic rocks and cliffs. Come, join us and experience the adventure of exploring the underwater Galapagos in a different way!
