Española, at around 3.3 million years old, is not only one of the oldest islands, but is also one of the most beautiful of this archipelago: a real wildlife high on our trip. Every week we have the opportunity to share this great landscape with our guests, and not only do we enjoy the trip, but there are other creatures that also enjoy these areas a lot, especially the beautiful white organic sand beach of Gardner Bay, our afternoon's visit.

Among those are our most common and most endearing marine mammals, the Californian sea lions (Zalophus californianus wollebacki ). We saw a great many of them lazing about on the beach, but this particular group of sea lions really caught our attention as they snuggled up together for warmth. They were following that great Latin tradition, the Siesta, and in this case one male with four females! They spent almost all afternoon sleeping while our guests took many pictures of them, during which they never moved at all! I think many of us can relate to that morning after the night before feeling!

The only area of their body that is not covered in blubber or fur are the flippers, which as one can see from the picture above, they love to hold close to their body for warmth.
