Genovesa Island
There are very few places on Earth where you can still find the most exquisite combination of wilderness, remoteness and intrinsic beauty. This small island in the Galápagos archipelago is one of them. In a very small area, just 5.4 square miles, rough estimations indicate that more than one million birds call this paradise home. Some of the animal species that live here are truly favorites of our guests. Red-footed boobies with their comical appearance and trademark colored feet and male great frigate birds with their bright red pouches are among the most popular. But not only is the exuberant abundance of wildlife important, the whole system and environment makes this small island truly unique. Tall and impressive lava walls are part of a submerged caldera; in simple words, relatively young geological formations collide with the marine environment in a magical way. Just add unusual and approachable animal species and you have the recipe for a place that can only be imagined in your wildest dreams.
A big part of these short paragraphs reflects my feelings about this island; needless to say, one of my favorites. At the same time it is the result of a quick conversation I had today with a guest.
