Genovesa Island

This bird paradise can satisfy the most demanding expectations. It is not less than amazing to observe so many birds all over. This small island is home for an impressive number of birds. Rough estimations say that probably one million birds are found in a relatively small space. The whole island is only 5.4 square miles. The opportunities to observe their natural behavior are not only amusing but inspirational as well. Several red-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls and frigate bird chicks were spotted today. Some were just hatchlings; one tiny red-footed booby in particular was just a couple of days old. The tiny bird was a true delight to its observers.

With joy and genuine sense of discovery the inner beauty of this paradise reached our spirits little by little along the day. Reluctantly we came back on board leaving the island of the birds behind but the memories and impressions will stay forever.
