Bartolome & Santiago Islands

It is so hard to get a good ending after so many great experiences during the past days. However, it seems that these two islands were striving to give us a great finale, and indeed it happened. After a great walk to the summit of Bartolome Island, which is one of the most spectacular geologic landscapes in the world, we came back to the ship for a delicious outside deck breakfast with very fresh omelets prepared by our chefs. Certainly, after that reenergizing meal we continued with the second part of the morning activities that involved a short walk across a sand dune and free time wandering along the southern beach of the island. This is an area where it is so very easy to be immersed in the silence and beauty of the area. It is a place where the hardest thing to do is not to find yourself in peace. But it was the water activity which gave us another astonishing moment of our lifetime – the encounter with penguins. In the morning as well as in the afternoon, it was so magic that in the minds of those who saw them will be a memory that is going to stick in their brains, and definitely something very hard to top.

As if this was not enough, during the final walk at the end of the day, some very playful baby sea lions came so close to some of us that we ended up feeling their whiskers tickle our legs. Last but not least, a sea lion kiss was received which will forever be considered the kiss of their lifetime.
