Isabela Island

Today King Neptune came to Polaris! It was eight thirty in the morning, and while we were approaching the Equator line, the ocean began to calm down and the skies cleared up.

All the kids on board were ready to be baptized by King Neptune. He suddenly came on board the Polaris by the stern. He appeared in the company of his pirates carrying iguana blood and the king’s pet, a sleeper lobster. The kids were pretty surprised, and had no other choice than to either drink iguana blood or kiss the lobster.

Everything was going fine until Neptune’s wife appeared with her mermaid body and blond hair; she looked pretty upset because her husband was thinking about taking one of our guests as a new wife. At the end of this baptism the pirates threw them all some water from the Galápagos Islands, and named them all Galápagos amberjacks.

We had a great time with our younger guests on board. Afterwards we anchored in front of the wall of Ecuador volcano, where we went for a boat ride, and finished the morning with a great snorkeling among marine turtles. The afternoon was spectacular; it was like visiting a different planet. Fernandina offered us several Galápagos penguins, flightless cormorants and beautiful lava flows.
