Bartolome and San Salvador Islands

It’s Friday, and it seems that it was yesterday when we all met for the first time. It’s amazing how a week in the Galápagos can create and endure friendships. But we have shared so much, that it would be impossible not to feel a very strong bond with everyone on board. We have seen a Bryde’s whale and bottle-nosed dolphins. We have shared the stars, the view of a new comet, red-footed boobies almost landing on our heads. We are definitely connected by the magic of Galapagos, and we’ll always keep the sweet memories of this week.

Today we shared the splendor of young volcanoes, and of all kinds and sizes. Cinder cones, tuff cones, spatter cones, the whole range of geological formations that one could find in hot spot islands. Tide in the morning was extremely low; therefore the snorkeling was exceptionally beautiful. What about the afternoon? Sea lions, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies and fur seals expected us along the trails of San Salvador Island.

We sat on the rocks to think back about the week we have had the privilege of experiencing together, and we found ourselves reflected in the eyes of everyone else around us. We are definitely tied by something bigger than ourselves. It’s Galápagos.
