In Glacier Bay, the morning started out cloudy but quickly began to clear. Kate, our National Park Ranger, came on board early to be with us all day as we visited the park. After sailing by the bird colonies at the Marble Islands, the Sea Bird moved on toward the northernmost part of the bay. At the junction of the Grand Pacific glacier and the Margerie Glacier, with the sky very sunny and clear, we all waited for the destruction of the glacier, or at least a small part of it. We were rewarded when a high pillar of ice began breaking up and then fell 200 feet down the face of Margerie Glacier and into the sea.
