Glacier Bay and Bartlett Cove

As sunlight shone o’er placid waters we came upon a raft of otters!
Floating safe amongst the kelp and cracking shells with rocks for help.
Moving north into the bay we stopped where Marble Islands lay,
Them puffins, gulls and brown sea lions filled the air with all their cryin’!
Then we wandered deep in Sandy Cove and there we found a treasure trove,
Black bear moms and black bear cubs, eating barnacles and grubs.
We watched them eat and wander ‘round, then slipped away without a sound.

The galley did their usual magic, and served us up a brunch pelagic,
Salmon swam through egg and spoon and crab cakes made our taste buds swoon.
Below the decks the kids learned tricks for fighting fires and tying sticks,
Our EL Trip came in to see and was transformed rather rapidly,
From the man who keeps all things controlled – to our underwater fire patrol! (see above photo)

At noon the glaciers showed their might – dark Pacific and Marjorie bright
Then the sun appeared and icebergs calved – like children leaping into baths.
Like kids, they never fall when asked – and always make a massive splash.
The day slid by with sun and smiles – the mountains seemed to stretch for miles,
We ended it with food and game – our lives will never be the same.
