"A short walk along the shoreline of Magdalena Bay reveals hidden treasures: an osprey perched on a cactus, bright yellow mangrove warblers chirping in the middle of a mangrove thicket, and a flock of white ibis feeding in the tidal flats. Wildlife.... includes one of the largest colonies of California sea lions on the peninsula, as well as a large bottlenose dolpnin population. The largest colony of magnificent frigatebirds and the only known nesting pair of bald eagles on the peninsula inhabit the bay. Magdalena Bay is also an important nursery for shellfish and fish, including sardine."
