The morning started out looking fairly dark and somewhat blustery. As the sun got higher the clouds thinned out and gave way to a breezy, sunny day.

We spent the morning winding northward through Hull Canal on our way to Boca de Soledad. Hull Canal joins the body of Magdalena Bay to the Boca, which is the northern entrance for the bay. On our way we passed slowly by numerous gray whale cow and calf pairs in an area called "La Florida."

In the afternoon we split up, half of our guests went whale watching and half went hiking in the dunes of Isla Magdalena. Midway through the afternoon we switched places. Everyone returned with smiles, so the whales must have been good, but I must admit the dunes of this island have no equal that I have ever seen. It was a good day.
