Los Islotes, Isla Espiritu Santo

We followed the sunrise south to Los Islotes at Isla Espiritu Santo. Once we had our breakfast we went on a Zodiac cruise to meet the sea lions. We visited the most southern breeding colony of the sea lions in the Sea of Cortez. We enjoyed watching the sea lions swimming and resting on the rocks. As soon as we were ready, we went snorkeling to get a closer look at the sea lions' natural habitat. We got an insight of how playful the sea lions are and how they are used to having snorkelers around them. Besides the sea lions, we saw pretty rock reef fish such as barber fish, king angelfish, leopard groupers, ballonfish, blue and gold snapper, Cortez chub and Mexican hogfish. We snorkeled in one of the places in Baja where people dream about coming to visit.

The day went by and we anchored the Sea Bird on the beautiful bay of Ensenada Grande at the same island while we were enjoying lunch. We spent our afternoon at this beautiful beach kayaking in the Sea of Cortez, hiking or just enjoying the sun at the beach. In one of the hikes we saw a swimming crab, a pair of whitetail antelope ground squirrels, a Costa’s hummingbird as well as a couple of turkey vultures flying with the wind.

The sun set and we had the Captain's farewell cocktail gathering along with a wonderful dinner. This was another beautiful journey that took place in Baja.
