Most of the gray whales have left Magdalena Bay except for a few juveniles, females with calves, and adults, like the one pictured here. We had a great time today watching several juveniles about 25 feet long as they rolled in the currents and stirred up mud from the bottom.

There was also time to explore the sand dunes, where we discovered tracks left by coyotes, raccoons, and jackrabbits. Specialized dune plants and colorful sea shells lay scattered along our route.
