Boca de Soledad, Magdalena Bay, México

The day dawned to find the Sea Lion surrounded by California gray whales! Through wind, current, rain, and even the threat of fog, our day was completely saturated with these magnificent creatures! Mothers with newborn calves, pregnant females, courting couples, and the occasional "friendly" that approached the boat. Such an amazing experience inspired the following song (much better in Spanish than English!) We dedicate it to the beautiful MEXICAN gray whales with which we spent our entire day!

The Whales
(sung to the tune “La Bamba”)

In order to see the whales,
In order to see the whales,
You need a small Zodiac,
A small Zodiac and something else.

Get up! Get up!
Up I will go!

I am not a whaler
I am not a whaler,
I am a (whale) watcher,
I am a watcher,
I am a watcher.

The whales…
The whales…
The whales…

Las Ballenas
(sung to the tune of “La Bamba”)

Para ver las ballenas,
Para ver las ballenas,
Se necesita una panguita chiquita,
Una panguita chiquita y otra cosita.
AY arriba y arriba
Y arriba ire
Yo no soy ballenero
Yo no soy ballenero
Soy mirador,
Soy mirador,
Soy mirador.
