Guests of Sea Lion take a deep breath -- but with great confidence -- as Captain Ron Short manuevers our happy ship through the narrow Malibu Rapids at the exit to Princess Louisa Inlet in British Columbia. Small as it is, ours is about the largest vessel that can cruise this beautiful fjord, and then only if we enter and exit at slack tide.

Many first-time kayakers built up their confidence in the calm water and warm sunshine of Princess Louisa, while the rest of us were treated to guided walks through the temperate rain forest and to the base of Chatterbox Falls.

An exciting example of British Columbia's initiatives to reduce the environmental impacts of forest harvesting -- its major industry -- was observed today as we watched a very efficient example of helicopter logging in steep terrain.
