Bahia Huevo, Costa Rica

Our Family Expedition is filled with all kinds of activities, and in each of them we learn and explore a new and fantastic place of Central America. Above water and under water we find amazing wonders. Kayaking, banana torpedo "blastering," swimming and snorkeling were some of the options we have had for enjoying the warm seas.

We saw many fish in Murcielago (Bat) Islands and many more in Bahis Huevo, (Egg Bay). Some species of fish on the Pacific side of Costa Rica are also found in the Caribbean. This is one more piece of evidence that the bridge that joins the Americas is a geologically recent formation, only 3 million years old. Before that time, the two oceans were connected through the present location of Central America.

The fish of this picture is wide spread in the Pacific, ranging throughout the Indo-West Pacific, including Hawaii. Some claim that this is the most poisonous of all puffers; therefore I don’t recommend it in any meal. But it is a beautiful creature, the spotted-green puffer fish.

Green is the puffer and green are the mountains that hug the pacific coast of Costa Rica, a country that has captivated my imagination and my heart.
