Ice choked the fjord at the foot of Garibaldi Glacier, but the rest of the channel remained clear enough to launch kayaks and Zodiacs for our morning activities. Rain came intermittently and at times fell heavily. Two kilometers from the ship, we encountered a small colony of South American sea lions, roughly seventy in number, resting and sparring among themselves. Guests were very pleased.
For afternoon activities, we ventured down Romanche Fjord, offering both hiking and Zodiac excursions. Hikers relished a mix of moderate and strenuous routes that bushwhacked over gentle slopes and thick, grassy fields, while Zodiac cruises explored the fjord's shores, showcasing waterfalls and kelp beds and allowing Peale’s dolphins to frolic in our wakes.
After a wonderful dinner, we celebrated in the Ice Lounge with the crew show. It was a wonderful exposé of hidden talents that brought everyone to their feet dancing and singing along.
